Aint that the truth huh washout? dont need to walk in your shoes. i played my 4 years of college. i walked down that aisle and was handed my diploma. i had my pro day call out. i played a long time at this level and i never acted a fool like you knotheads out here crying about nobody playing you. talk to your management about why that is. trust it aint fear of nothing its about businessmen who wont deal with shady double talkers son. suit up and play who they put in front of you. worrying about the monarchs or stallions is a good way of getting a maverick or bulldog foot in your ass. hahahaha Good post Mr Meadows! the level of disrespect to the game of football that is exuded these days astonishes me. Is it a tacoma thing? wasn't it just last year someone couldnt handle gettin whopped on the field so they ran to their car to get a gun and rapped off a few rounds? or is it a "pro" thing? I watched the youtube video of the formerly "pro" boise bucs player ripping off Vann Vetch's helmet and swinging it at him 2-3 times during a game because the little guy got into big boys ass while blocking him. if that and this message board rant by the stars of the cobras and the defending of them by the defacto GM/face of the organization is the definition of a "pro" then let's all be glad to remain amateurs! id personally be embarrassed to be associated with these guys and they damn sure would be taking a hike down the road before they'd be putting on my teams uniform like so many others have who had more attitude than game.

So when will the Monarchs play the Cobra's again? It doesn't matter what you call yourself, semi, minor or pro because if any guy that is not noticed out of HS is looking at a extreme long shot making the Oregon Ducks or Boise Bronco's teams anyway. Get real. If guys have that much talent I suggest not to play semi ball but go directly to any college football tryouts. Some smaller colleges don't care if your a semi pro'er. Example: You'll have a better chance getting on with a team like the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes, Central WA Wildcats or the Puget Sound Loggers than making the Washington Huskies roster. Besides how do you know that the semi pro team you are playing is not secretly paying some guys under the table and then later on down the road, someone reports this. To bad so sad you were caught up in the mix and played this team so now your toast in the eyes of the NCAA. So when will the Monarch, Cobras and Stallions play each other again? I'm not a supporter of the Cobra's but hell, let them call themselves what ever. It really does not matter.

Oh and one other thing. The NCAA is cracking down on graduation rates. Universities and Colleges must graduate over 60 percent of their teams or they get punished. So Schools not only want talent but brains as well. Much harder now in this modern tech era for a smart unnoticed straight out of High School football talented guy to suddenly want to play football on a semi pro team then get noticed and play for the LSU Tigers football team. Better change to make the Penn State team. lol

Interesting that someone brought up eligibility for college and semi-pro ball. I good close friend who is the head of the recruiting department for a Div. II school mentioned that there might be an interesting rule or modification coming during the summer NCAA meetings. One of the things being talked about is allowing college eligible kids play at any level of semi-pro- the only thing now is that its who they play with and against. Yes playing against a "pro" team is still out, but now they are going to want to look at the roster of the team the member played for. If there are "pro" players on the roster then that member will now become ineligble based that they are playing with pro caliber talent. If this comes up and is based this summer at the NCAA meetings that could change a lot of rosters and the way things are done. Many teams in the NW are full of former pro players from different leagues (NFL, CFL, AFL, UFL, IFL, AFL2..etc) so then what? This should be a good topic to follow, and hope that it doesn't pass through the board. This is nothing new with the NCAA. Ed Atherton was notorious for "Athertonizing" star athletes like Inky Boe who played University football and "club" football in the 1930's and 40's. news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1310&dat=19410511&id=h8wRAAAAIBAJ&sjid=pOgDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6341,289823 More players than history can record in the Pacific Coast Conference (Oregon, Oregon State, Washington) LOST their eligibility because they chose to play with a "club" AKA minor league team either before, or during their college years which had players who were paid, compensated with a job, or were former pros in the infant NFL leagues. It's been an issue for 70 years now with the NCAA and some teams like the Monarchs, Vikings and Bearcats have chosed a stance where they just are not going to risk it with a self-proclaimed and boasting "PROFESSIONAL" team. It's spelled out quite simply in the NCAA eligibility handbook that playing those teams is grounds for athletes to be declared collegiately ineligible. It would be community suicide if a kid from Aberdeen made a college team at age 20, or came back and got into college and made the team after 2-4 years in the military only to be declared ineligible because he played a few games with the Bearcats and they played against "PAID" players. The community (and his parents) would never forgive the leaders of that team. I know for a fact there are teams just recently as 2008 and 2005 who used players who were actually enrolled in college and members of a college team. They were home for spring break and "semi pro" teams suited them up under pseudonym names. had they been caught, they would have lost their scholarships, all future eligibility and may have been expelled from school and forced to pay back scholarship money they had been given up to that point. Is it really worth the "PRO" tag just so you can slide around and act cool at a Tacoma club to put another young athlete in that kind of jeapardy? If you say yes, you are one selfish SOB and I wouldn't want a damn thing to do with you no matter how good you think your team is.
