Renegades VS Vipers
Warriors VS Colts
Monarchs VS Mavericks
One problem i have with this is the Monarchs being the game of the night at a Vipers hosting. Understandable the Monarchs are defending champions and all else, but at the same time its like the league presses them into the spot light above all other teams. Vipers are hosting the event, the Vipers should have center stage - simply my opinion on the situation..... ON TO THE PICKS!
Vipers made the playoffs last year and their team, though talented still struggles at a very important position - QB; proved to be the factor in alot of their loses!
The Gades are coming into the league refreshed and hungry, their roster is deep with known faces and impressive talent.
I think QB's will be the dividing factor in this one --- Renegades win 28 - 14
Warriors are a solid team, decent talent on O with very good DB's on D.
Colts are the Bizus though
Colts win 35-14
Monarchs i hope you lose! Lol, no need to speak much on this team, aside from the fact they lost alot of their up-front blocks to protect the QB.
Mavericks have always been a strong team; im rooting for their win!
Mavericks win 14 - 7

Gades vs Vipers: The Gades have had continuous stability and the Vipers this year are in a transition change. Not to mention adding another team to the local area could affect player personal. On the other side the unfortunate lost of the Knights could bolster the Gades roster..
I'll take Gades -9.5
Warriors vs Colts:
Same fortunes could spill to the Warriors like they could the Gades with the knight's taking a year off, and the Warriors looking to return to championship status. The Colts and all this talk about them being the Predator farm team raises some eyebrows across the league because the potential level of players they could get. Scott is also back and his boys are sure to follow him all the way.
That being said I give the Colts the upper hand -13.5
Mavericks vs Monarchs:
This is going to be a hard hitting game! The trash talk between these two teams over the last couple years has finally resulted in them being able to slug it out. Mavericks have always been a great team and very dominant in the WFL. They always start their season's off hot which will play to their advantage for opening day. Monarchs have lost some players here and there but let's not forget there the MONARCHS that "players" want to play for. That being said retooling them won't be a problem. Mavericks have to travel a long distance and our out to prove all the talk that has happen, but Monarchs step up and handle business against personal rivalries.
Monarchs -6.5
I will say this, I myself am surprised that the "host" isn't getting the main event but at the same time the Monarch / Maverick game is the top game on the card in my opinion.

The Border War is still going to happen, but the Colts, since it is not a league game, will not be participating. Will know which team is taking their place by next week.
As for the order, the teams that travel the farthest got to pick when they played. The Renegades picked first and choose the early game. Depending on who takes the Colts place will decided who gets to choose when they play on that day.

Gades/Vipers: I agree with a lot of what has been said so far. There is still some unknowns with the Vipers, so my pick: Gades by 14 Warriors/ ? I am sure there are teams that want to participate. Mavs/Monarchs: True, this game has been wanted/needed for quite some time now. For the Mavs- always strong, and always seem to get good new talent for the team. For the Monarchs- will have already played 1 pre-season game by then, and even though the game is in Battle Ground, it is still pretty much in the Monarchs "backyard." Close game but: Monarchs by 13

Gades/Vipers:Gades ALL the way!!! With the knights folding and most of their vets returning, Renegades should dominate! Dont know much about the Vipers, but I know English can ball and Karl will be trying to get him the rock! If the Vipers do win watch out North!!!! Gades by 21 Warriors/?
Hope we(Shockers) play in this game!
Mavs/Monarchs:too bad the preseason tag on this game will give the LOSER an excuse! But this game has been hyped online for a couple of years!! The Jesse Cardenas vs Monarchs online bashing has been comical but now it all must be backed up! Mavericks were subpar last year and retooled from the whole region to compete. Monarchs have lost a few vets, but always have a quality team! Monarchs lose a preseason game getting everyone time! Mavericks by 7

I don't know anything about the Warriors or Vipers, that's why I'm so excited about this year. But Gades are tough and will play a very good game. Mavs are a hard fighting , hard hitting team and have been waiting for there shot at the Monarchs for a while. Will be a great game. Not to often you see the Monarchs not picked to blow out a team or even picked to lose. I think that it will be close just hope everyone keeps their heads and plays good ball.

Though I'm sure there working on it, how soon will the people know who the Warriors play??? Umatilla should grab that spot...

That probably won't happen since Umatilla is an Oregon team, and so is the Warriors. I am sure one of the Washington teams will jump at the opportunity. Shockers, Bears, Bulldogs, Vikings or Bearcats would be a nice addition. Also there are teams in the other leagues that might be available as well.

Shockers will replace the Colts in the Border War and play the second game against the Rogue Warriors.

Mark that's exactly what our coaching staff did in our last game against the shockers, use it as an evaluation tool. While you may be right, in that most preseason games can deteriorate into a win the game mode, I beg to differ that everyone does that. If you have enough players that need evaluating, you can't focus on winning a "meaningless game". Your team is better served by identifying those people who can help you when it really counts.

Solution:
Drop the whole preseason thing. Put players in helmets and shoulder pads only with the coaches on the field and call it a scrimmage that way there is no conflict about players not playing and winning bullshit. Coaches can evaluate and everyone can be happy.

Of course we lost the game Mark. You were the better team that day. But I again beg to differ with your analysis. And yes, I personally got caught up with the concept of wanting to win the game, but my offensive coordinator came to me and said, we had a bunch of guys we needed to evaluate, and I reluctantly agreed. Don't get my wrong, we still tried to win the game, but we were trying to win the game with players who if the game was a regular season game, probably would not have been in the game, in a lot of those situations.
You probably did the same, so it doesn't take anything away from the win. I loved playing your teams in preseason because I would get solid fundamental looks. Something I could use to evaluate my own guys soundness. Honestly, most teams are so bad at preseason you don't really get what you would like, but you use it anyway to get sharp and crisp.
If you were offended, don't be, it wasn't about winning or losing against you guys, it was about using preseason games to evaluate because it's preseason. You guys deserved that win, it was a good tough fought game to the very end. Thanks for the lesson.
